INSPIRATIONAL, FAITH, AND RELIGIOUS QUOTES

  1. "Always teach others the gospel--- and if necessary, use words"

  2. Frederick Douglass: "One and God make a majority."

  3. "He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less." NLT John 4:30 (John the Baptist made this statement to show the importance of the Messiah. This statement is a hard & easy statement to live by. We all know we are suppose to become more like Him & less like us, but that day to day discipline to remove more of our fleshly desires is challenged by the world around us & inside us. Read the word.)

  4. "You have to be willing to Give Up to Go Up" (You have to be willing to give up personal habits & vulnerability in relationships, give up time and hard work for success, & give up flesh and worldly ways for God, and so on. Give your all in whatever you do and then and only then will you know, if what you gave your all for, is meant for you) by Brian K. Rice

  5. "I am not overly religious, I am just one of the guys, the only difference is I fear what God is going to do to me if I allow myself to do what I want" (if you are not living with the fear of God in you, watch out. Tithes or financial problems; abstinence or disease, sober judgment or reckless drunkenness, do unto others as you want others to do unto you.) by Brian K. Rice

  6. Arthur Ashe: "If I were to say, ''God, why me?'' about the bad things, then I should have said, ''God, why me?'' about the good things that happened in my life." (We too often ask the first question when we should be given complete praise for the second question. This question reminds me of the story of Job in the bible asking question #1. In the end, it is not our will but His will.~ by Brian K. Rice)

  7. Brian K. Rice inspired by Rev Kirby John Caldwell: "There are three important days in your life; The day you were born, the day you were born again, and the day you knew why you were born." (Being born again has become a formality for too many and not a matter of true change & conviction. The third one is often the missing piece, a lot of people are walking around just drifting with no purpose.)

  8. James Weldon Johnson: "Young man, young man, your arm's too short to box with God."

  9. Martin Luther: "A gospel that does not deal with the issues of the day is not the gospel at all.”

  10. Brian K. Rice: "[It is time for all of us to 'WATER WALK'] When I look back over the moment I discovered my worth for this life, my purpose & HIS vision, I began 'Water Walking' & I hope you are 'Water Walking' too. We have to walk with HIS faith in us so we don't look back. Regardless of who you are, if you keep doing the right thing, for the right reason & with the right intentions, HIS blessing will come"

  11. Brian K. Rice: "Continue to grow & continue to share what you learn with others. Continue on your path. (When you let yourself be directed by Him, sometimes you will not be walking with your own strength. He knows where you must go. Often, He will push & pull you as our flesh wants to rest and fight back. Give in to Him.)"

  12. Stevie Wonder: "Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision." (I personally believe the clarity of your vision comes by how focused you are on God, Lately I have been fearing HIM more than I ever have and HE is placing more of HIS vision in me. Try what He tells you, read daily, be scared to sin and see how HE honors you. Last thing read & study your bible from cover to cover. ~by Brian K. Rice)

  13. Sojourner Truth: "Religion without humanity is very poor human stuff."

  14. 1 Cor 6:19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. (Brian K. Rice: What are you decorating your temple with? What type of stained glass have you put on your temple? Oh my bad, what type of tattoo or brand or piercing or clothes? What are you putting in it? What is coming out of your front door (mouth)?)

  15. Believe in Him...

  16. Happy Good Friday: Col 3:11-13 "In this new life... CHRIST IS ALL THAT MATTERS, AND HE LIVES IN US. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

  17. Proverbs 23:7 King James Version, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Brian K. Rice:  For as YOU thinketh in YOUR heart, so are YOU. If you think about just getting by then you will do just that…. get by. If you think you are more, then you will be more. The power of positive thinking with faith is what can take a man from the gutter to the stars.)

  18. NLT Esther 4:16; "though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die I am willing to die" (Brian K. Rice: What are you willing to give up for a cause that means something to you? Sacrifice Something)

  19. Nehemiah 2:2-5 "So the king asked me, Why are you looking so sad? You don’t look sick to me. You must be deeply troubled... How can I not be sad? For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins... if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city." (Brian K. Rice: Does anything trouble you? Is there anything worth rebuilding in your world? Are you willing to make sacrifices?)

  20. Revelation 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. (Brian K. Rice: I pray that I and you are given the reward of having your new name engraved on the white stone when HE returns.)

  21. 1 Cor 13:11 "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." (Brian K. Rice: HEY CHILD, GROW UP. I know a lot of grown children who ignore the fact that they are the adults now. Your parents raised you & now it is time to raise others, family or not. You should reflect considerable growth in maturity & morals.)

  22. Hey! You fasting people, you have a few more weeks to go. Keep up the good fight. Keep growing in HIM with your discipline. Stay true to your fast.

  23. Proverbs 4:21 "My child don't lose sight of good planning and insight" (Brian K. Rice: A lot of us have stopped planning. A lot of us know retirement will come one day but few of us actually prepare. A lot of us want more in life but few us put together and execute our plan. A lot of us go around the same people and places that cause us to sin and fail as if we have no insight. REWRITE YOUR FUTURE)

  24. 1 Peter 2:20 "Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. BUT if you suffer for doing right and are patient BENEATH THE BLOWS, God is pleased with you" (Brian K. Rice: Be patient BENEATH THE BLOWS, do what is right for HIM. Endure the pain. Endure the evil of others. Don't repay evil with evil. Endure the tempting of sin. Your reward will come.)

  25. Hebrews 10:26-30 "Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins… For we all know the one who said, I will take my vengeance, I will repay those who deserve it.” (Brian K. Rice: Most of us know the truth, and we are going to get what we deserve if we keep choosing our own paths)

  26. There is no Right way to do wrong, so quit trying. (Have you ever felt guilty after you committed an act that you know was wrong or are you one of those people that do whatever you choose and you feel nothing? If you are in the 1st category and you are Christian that is the Holy Spirit that convicted you. If you are in the 2nd category & you are a church attendee or not, please seek out the TRUTH.)

  27. Interesting church facts: We were taught through the 10 commandments to keep the Sabbath holy. It is interesting to know that most Christians practice the Sabbath on Sunday. In Mark 15:42-46 it clearly describes that Jesus was laid in the tomb on Friday the day before the Sabbath and in Mark 16:1-2 it describes Jesus arising after the Sabbath on Sunday. ‎(Read your bible so you can answer these questions for those weak in understanding and are on the border of walking the other way)

  28. One of the reason for us practicing Church on Sunday is because it is to recognize the day Jesus rose again which is clearly stated after the Sabbath. Another reason, is because Moses represented the covenant of law of God which is where the ten commandments reside and Jesus brought the new covenant (new testament) which operates through the Holy Spirit in us and no longer the law. Jesus broke the covenant of the Law when He rose on Sunday and soon after the Holy Spirit came upon the believers and it is in the Holy Spirit that we abide in the Lord. ------ Romans chapter 7: 4-6 explains this "So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code." ------ALSO in Colossians 2:16-17 (New Living Translation) 16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.

  29. NLT Romans 11:18 "...Remember, you are just a branch, not the root" (Brian K. Rice: Do what you can to remove your thorns, step away from your comfort zone of sin. Quit repeating to yourself, "well HE will forgive me". HE has HIS limits with your sin and HE can cut your branch off when HE chooses. It is only by HIS grace that HE has not yet. Learn to Fear God in your actions. Trust me, we are all challenged daily.)

  30. Romans 1: 26-27 Because of this (idolatry, sin & foolish thinking), God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

  31. Colossians 3:21:"Fathers, don't aggravate your children. If you do, they will become discouraged and quit trying" (Brian K. Rice: I read this yesterday and the first thing I thought about was the lack of Fathers in the black community. We have a lot of kids who have become discouraged and quit trying. If you know of a missing father or unproductive father, encourage them to step up.)

  32. Gal 19-21 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, & other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God

  33. It's church day for many people. Earlier in the week the preacher read the bible or some other compiled resource for preachers & then the preacher developed a way to relate to the church. His or her message may be for you or not. So, what if you did not read the bible for yourself this week, then there is a chance you may not receive a word for you. Read & study the bible for yourself. Your life is too important.

  34. It is so easy to get distracted. It is so easy to devote time to everything else. Sometimes it is a mental fight. You know what you should do but somehow you don't do it. You know what you need but sometimes you don't get it. You know right from wrong but that discipline within you loses the battle. Keep trying to better yourself and continue reading if you are reading and start reading daily if you are not reading. (I know, trust me I know, it is a struggle sometimes but we have to catch ourselves before we let it get out hand)

  35. ‎(NLT 1st Cor 9: 26 So I run with purpose in every step. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.) (Brian K. Rice: RUN WITH PURPOSE IN EVERY STEP, train & practice & discipline yourself to win the true race. Study that bible & practice it. Read it slow from cover to cover & take in what it says.)

  36. NLT 2nd Corinthians Ch 13:5 Examine yourselves to see if your faith is really genuine. Test yourselves. If you cannot tell that Jesus Christ is among you. It means you have failed the test." (Brian K. Rice: Come on friends, do this for you and I will do this for me. Come on, Check yo-self)

  37. Are you trying to get praise from people or GOD? (Every year during lent many fast and many of them love to tell everyone their struggles. I hear people complaining & saying I wish I could have that chocolate but I'm fasting or I wish I could have that meat but I'm fasting... STOP!!! Your praise should not come from people, fasting is a time to internalize your struggle & grow within the Lord.

  38. John 5:14 NKJV: Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” (Brian K. Rice: How many of us have Jesus made well and we have been convicted to stop sinning but we choose to take one more puff which leads to more puffs of what we don’t need and we force even worst things to happen to us?)

  39. Brian K. Rice: I was at church recently & I was reminded of what I have seen take place in every reasonable size church I have ever walked in & this must change if we ever plan to build up people or if we decide to use the strength of the church. The choir sings, preachers preach, tithes are given, the benediction take place, AND this powerful community of people VANISH without ever saying a word to one another.

  40. NLT Luke 8:54 "then Jesus took her by the hand and said in a loud voice, "GET UP MY CHILD!" (Brian K. Rice: How many of us, is Jesus saying "Get up my child" too? How many of us are lying here dead like the girl HE brought back to life? What are you waiting on, HE gave you a job to do. OHHHHH my bad, you tired; you don't have time; you don't have the money. GET UP MY CHILD and get to work.)

  41. Mathew 10:34 NLT Jesus says: "Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I Came Not To Bring Peace, BUT A SWORD." (this is a very interesting statement and then he follows this statement by saying I have come to set son against father, daughter against mother... if you love your father or mother more than you love me then you are not fit to be mine... if you cling to your life, you will lose it)

  42. Leviticus ch 19: 10 "do not strip every last bunch of grapes from the vines, and do not pick up the grapes that fall to the ground. Leave them for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the Lord your God." (How many of us are stripping the vine and are not leaving nothing for the others? The vine to me represents your time & resources and the grapes to me represent your service & your gifts.)

  43. Brian K. Rice: "We may want some things when want them but in the end, it is not us who are in control. It takes a constant reminder sometimes to realize that it is His will and not ours."

  44. NLT Psalms 50:16-19 & 21:"But God says to the wicked: recite my laws no longer, and don't pretend that you obey me. For you refuse my discipline and treat my laws like trash. When you see a thief, you help him, and you spend your time with adulterers. Your mouths are full of wickedness and your tongues are full of lies... Repent all who ignore me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you."

  45. Brian K. Rice: Two days ago a friend said she was going to call me later but she never did, so I called back & her mother answered the phone & said she got real sick last night & passed away at 6:15 in the morning. 31 years old & no warning. When it is all said & done, I pray that you & I can be the example where people will say that Christ lived in them. I pray that Christ will say, "you have done well, my servants"

  46. Arthur Ashe: "If I were to say, ''God, why me?'' about the bad things, then I should have said, ''God, why me?'' about the good things that happened in my life." (Brian K. Rice: How many of us overlook the good things on a regular basis? Yea, many of us recognize God when we receive something new out of the norm but what about those many little blessings that add up over the period of our life.)

  47. "He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, and as long as the he sought the Lord, God gave him success" (Brian K. Rice: it is your choice whether you want His success or not. In the Old Testament in particular, this type of phrase is repeated every time there was a change in leadership which was at least 40-50 times. It is time to read for yourself, quit relying on your pastors, ministers & bible study teachers to read for you)

  48. Malcolm X: "The ability to read awoke in me some long dormant craving to be mentally alive." (Brian K. Rice: For ex: I was sick & tired of not being able to hold discussions when people began to talk about the various parables, stories, & characters of the bible, so I told myself, it is time for me to read for myself & I did & that dormant craving, craved & encouraged me to read & I became mentally alive to the bible.)

  49. Eleanor Powell: "What You Are Is A Gift From God and What You Become Is A Gift To God" (Those words are profound just like our lives and it is time for us to become what we are meant to become and give our lives back to God. ~Brian K. Rice)

  50. MLK, Jr: "We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies." (The evil in the best of us reminds me of Isaiah 64:6 KJV "But WE are ALL as an unclean thing, and ALL our righteousness’s are as filthy rags" ~by Brian K. Rice)

  51. 1 Samuel 16:7 NLT “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (This section speaks for itself and all of us need to pray for his way of thinking and not ours. You can continue to boldly ignore his ways if you choose and you will reap the consequences ~by Brian K. Rice)

  52. Halle Berry: "I know that there is a God - the God within me that's always present will protect me. I'm not afraid to climb any mountain, because I know that I'm protected. Even if I fall and die, I'm still protected. My faith is on that level." (It’s the first Sunday of the new year, let's make sure you don't just have God with you on Sundays only, this year ~ by Brian K. Rice)

  53. "Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right" by Henry Ford (The power is in belief, If you don't believe then you have lost the battle before you started; the belief you have in yourself and the belief you have in God will determine your outcome for anything (~by Brian k. Rice). Hebrews 11:1 KJV says faith "is the substance of the things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen")

  54. "Without His love I can do nothing, with His love there is nothing I cannot do." (Because of His love, grace, and mercy we have more than we deserve ~by Brian K. Rice)

  55. Henry & Richard Blackaby says, “it is tempting to assume God wants us to do things we enjoy and are good at doing. However, for God to accomplish his purpose, he may ask us to do things we do not consider enjoyable---- HE did ask His son to die on the cross…We need to be led by the spirit of God and not our passions and talents.” The Blackaby's also made this other point, "There is much more to determining God's will than merely assuming every open door is a divine invitation" [Brian K. Rice: Using your gifts to glorify Him is one thing. Walking in God's purpose is different. It is like saying Lord, I know I am great at catching fish and I am so good at this that I can continue to make a good living doing this because this is my area of knowledge and talent. We have a lot of people following their own gifts, joys and plans BUT then God comes to you and says put your fishing rod down, I don't want you to fish for fish, I want you to be fishemen of men. We all are talented in certain areas and because we are talented in those areas does not give us free reign to choose our destiny with those talents. God may want you to sacrifice what you love to show Him that you love Him more.]

  56. "She speak to the king in me" (Brian K. Rice: Yesterday at a men's bible study, one of the guys was talking about the highs of his week and he spoke of how his girlfriend is always lifting him to excellence. Earlier in the week, she made it known to him that he will be 'excellent provider'. This may seem small to you but to him it was monumental and it has made him focus even more. If you have a significant other, if you are not already doing this, find a way to speak to the king or queen in them.)

  57. Carlton Lantz: "You have the choice to choose right. You have the choice to wrong. You don't have the choice of what consequences you will receive."

  58. Brian K. Rice: "Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger. Pray for patience,. Pray for wisdom"

  59. Brian K. Rice: To make a long story short, "if you can't play GOD on the front end of life at the creation, then you should not be allowed to play GOD on the back end of life with your death penalty"

  60. Brian K. Rice: Lord, I thank YOU for this day. Lord, I thank YOU by helping others. Lord, I thank YOU with praise. Lord, I thank YOU by worshiping YOU. (Lord, Thank you for YOUR continued blessings)

  61. St. Augustine: "Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you"

  62. James Weldon Johnson: "Young man, young man, your arm's too short to box with God." {Brian K. Rice: Quit fighting against His will. Let that fight go and fight with Him and for Him. Identify how you can be used to build His kingdom. There is something you can do and need to be doing.)

  63. Not meaning to call someone out so I removed the post from my page, but recently I had a facebook friend post "we are number one this week, now that is some good Sh#t God is Good..." (I make this post to remind you that God and lot of other stuff don't mix in the same sentence or in life. We are either hot or cold, struggles of the flesh are expected but outright choices that undermine HIM are not)

  64. John Newton, Amazing Grace 1772: "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see..."

  65. His Eye is On the Sparrow: ...I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me...

  66. Brian K. Rice: I pray for a life driven by your purpose. I pray for never failing accountability. I pray for forgiveness. I pray for an unbreakable faith. I pray for your insight, vision, understanding, and wisdom. I pray for dedicated discipline. I pray for good health. I pray for guidance. I pray for making the right decisions. I pray for open hearts and minds. I pray for progress. I pray for family and community. I pray for love.

  67. MLK, jr: "I decided early to give my life to something ETERNAL and ABSOLUTE. Not to these little gods that are here today and gone tomorrow, but to GOD who is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

  68. Grace... (Thank YOU for YOUR grace. Thank YOU for blessing us when we surely did not deserve it. Thank YOU for continuing to mold us. Thank YOU for YOUR grace ...Enough said)

  69. Brian K. Rice: "Let go of your fears and let God" I was at Bible study yesterday and one guy from the group stood and spoke to the crowd. He was very nervous and he kept saying he was nervous as he was stumbling through his words. 30 seconds later he was on fire and you would have thought he was the preacher. He broke through his nervousness and gave us a long winded heartfelt and needed message. Let Go & Let God

  70. Brian K. Rice: "We all have fears. My biggest fear is not doing His will for my life. If we live in Him and Him in us, we have all been called to live out a certain task or tasks in His name. We can easily get caught up in the routines of our lives that have nothing to do with Him."

  71. Brian K. Rice: Forgiveness: a lot of people talk about forgiving others but a lot of people hold on to the grudge. Let it go. Yes, I know some people can do some God awful stuff to you. Yes, that person probably does not deserve your forgiveness, but you have to forgive them anyway. Let it go. Forgive them enough to where you would be willing to help them in the time of need. (My parents are true examples)

  72. Brian K. Rice: Patience! Persistence! Perseverance! (You know your breakthrough is coming right when the devil throws everything at you including the kitchen sink. He will put you through test after test and if you fail them, your blessings will be halted and that is exactly what he wants. You must stay on task and do what is right and noble. Don't give in. Victory is yours, so go and get your blessing)

  73. Brian K. Rice: God is paving the road, all HE ask is that you give your life to HIM. (We make things much harder than they should be. We dodge HIS purpose for us too often. We all have a past and we are all asked to "Partner With Heaven". Are you willing to "Partner With Heaven" or are you going to keep dodging your GOD given purpose for living? HE is growing in me daily & I hope HE is growing in YOU.)

  74. Brian K. Rice inspired by Bruce Wilkinson's book "You were Born for This" : What if God wanted you to be the miracle for others? What would you need to do receive more miracles so you can share them? Often, our blessings are not for us but for us to bless others with. If we are not living right then we block the blessings others are suppose to receive. Learn how He wants to use you and then partner with God.

  75. Romans 12:8 "If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously" (Bill Hybels: "People with the leadership gift are uniqually equipped to come up with strategies and structures to help others use their gifts accordingly") [Brian K. Rice: How many of you have the gift of leadership but you are not using it appropriately? Are you sitting in the background when you should be in the foreground]

  76. Brian K. Rice: "It is so sad that we see people going to hell and it does not bother us" (Some of the people are our friends. Sometimes that person is You. Other times it is someone we consider to be an associate and we come into contact with them on a regular basis but we do nothing. Become a fishermen of men.)

  77. Romans 13:13 NIT "Let us behave decently, as in the DAYTIME" (Brian K. Rice: If you will not do it when everyone else is watching, then it probably should not be done. If your behavior changes just because the sun goes down or because the lights go dim then you are probably doing something you should have no part of.)

  78. Brian K. Rice: "So many people are looking for a place to be served when they should be looking for a place to serve" (This is especially true for too many people who go to church and only sit in the pews. This is also true for people looking for personal value when they join a volunteer organization. You should bring the value. You should be the server.)

  79. Brian K. Rice: Did you put your armor on this morning? (Does a soldier put on his armor after he wakes up and heads off to battle? or Does he wait until bedtime after the fiery darts and the wiles of the day are thrown at him? Does a soldier forget any part of his armor? Did you read your bible this morning? Did you pray before you started your day? Are you ready for your day?
